Voila. It took me about 30mins, since it was a new laptop. 1. When I bought my macbook pro 13', I was a little worried that the 160GB HDD wasn't enough for extended use, so I went and invested in a 7200rpm, 320GB HDD by Western Digital (black scorpio I think). If you're a mac user, it's extremely easy. I had a little trouble at first, so if you do,too, I'd suggest reading online guides to help you. Open Disk Utlity2. Erase (this formats it in the mac os journal format)3.Burn image of your old HDD (from which you wish to transfer your files)4. Don't worry, however, this thing works perfectly. Oh and btw you don't need that CD.
Couldn't believe how quickly this item came. Just as promised. Will use them again for sure.
We live in an old apartment and the breaker trips when too many lights are on. I removed the hard drive, attached the cables and plugged this to my other PC's USB port. This product is great. Repeated boot ups generated the same message. When I reattached the drive to my wifes machine it booted up normally. When I tried to boot up the machine I got a blue screen with the error "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". This product saved my life.
I safely backed up all the files and then went to My Computer, right clicked on the drive and selected Properties, then Tools and clicked on Error Checking. I was backing up files on a DVD on my wife's machine when the power went out. It was immediately recognized as another drive. It said Windows was shut down to prevent damage to the computer. Needless to say, my wife was furious and I was in the doghouse. Windows scanned and fixed all system file errors. I was out of the doghouse.
so there was no use in haveing it fast if i can't get it to work. I got it really quick, it came in 2 days with regular shipping which was great. but i can't get it to work. should have just bought a more expensive one. Guess i got what i paid for.If someone could help me figure it out that would be nice too
This is a great tool to have if you have a bunch of old Hard Drives around the house - I keep a few at work and at home. Also, having IDE & SATA on the same adapter saves time trying to locate one or the other because when adapters like this first came out a few years back, they were drive specific. Easy hook up, ideal for those of you that have one hard drive that you use to back up your digital pictures, music, etc, every once in a while then store the hard drive somewhere else. Sometimes I find that I am using two of them at the same time (coping from one drive to the other). Also works on laptop drives, A drives, and CD/DVD ROM drives. If you buy this for the geek in your family (Like for Christmas or Birthday), they'll love you forever.
